Pictures from Hannover, Germany

Here's some images from the CeBit'98 trade show. I didn't have time to ask many questions, but at least I brought home some nice pictures. [Sony lent me their Mavica camera, thanks again for that.]

The CeBit fair is not aimed at the hifi-buying public, still both Sony and Sharp presented their new models. Sharp had their MD-X8H system connected to a PC. This setup is already for sale and works fine. Sony also presented PC->MD connections. Their system wasn't marked ready, yet. But it worked, too, both with a stationary deck as well as with the R50 and R35 walkmen. The system might be quite costly, though. Sony had a questionaire, in which they asked if a price of DM 799,-- for the PC hardware and DM 249 (?) for the software would be OK. Their R50, however, will sell from April '98 at around DM 599,--. This is last years R30 list price, so the R35 should be a lot cheaper!

Sony R50 - I wasn't supposed to take a photo, so here's a sneak shot. Later when I was allowed, I already had returned the Mavica camera and was stuck with my good ol' Casio QV-10.

Sony R35 - don't you just love the colour?
